Our Florist Alicia, on the Road to Excellence at WorldSkills

At just 20 years old, Alicia L., a florist at Narmino, skillfully and sensitively represents the new generation of passionate artisans. Born in Nice and residing in Cros-de-Cagnes, she perfectly embodies family tradition, creativity, and determination.

A Vocation and a Journey in Full Bloom

Inspired by her grandfather, who dreamed of becoming a landscape designer, Alicia developed a deep attachment to flowers and creation at a very young age. After obtaining a CAP (vocational certificate) and then a professional florist’s diploma, she joined Narmino in Monaco, where she perfects her art every day.

“Here, we have so much more material, varieties, and styles… It’s a real creative playground,” she confides.

At Narmino, this passion finds a natural echo: amidst high standards, elegance, and artistic freedom, Alicia can finally give free rein to her creativity and bring to fruition the dream her grandfather passed on to her.

WorldSkills: A Personal and Collective Challenge

It all began when a WorldSkills champion florist visited her class in 2024. This encounter awakened in Alicia the desire to push her limits. She chose to participate in a team competition, a format that brought her confidence and motivation.

First Stage: The Regionals in Avignon

During six hours of competition, candidates had to create pieces that were both technical and artistic: a floral hat, or a perfume bottle to be adorned with flowers. Alicia won silver in the general classification and gold in the “parcours plus” category, rewarding her creativity and rigor.

Diagnosed with an autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), Alicia transforms her neurodivergence into strength: precision, concentration, and attention to detail become her allies.

Second Stage: The Nationals in Marseille

Six months later, she participated in the national trials in Marseille. Between physical, mental preparation, and training, the competition was intense. Waking up at 5:30 AM, warm-up, team brief, followed by three days of creation, totaling nearly 18 hours of challenges.

The themes reflected the spirit of the city: a wall hanging on the Old Port theme, or a linear bouquet inspired by the Mucem.

At the closing ceremony, Alicia won bronze in the “parcours plus” category among fifteen florists, a moment of emotion and pride shared by the entire Narmino team.

And Tomorrow?

After this intense adventure, Alicia wishes to refocus:

“Competitions are an incredible experience, but also very demanding. I want to stabilize myself and continue to progress in my profession. Perhaps one day I’ll compete again, but not right away.”

At Narmino, we are proud to support Alicia on her journey, a symbol of passion, perseverance, and creativity. Her perspective on flowers, both sensitive and bold, perfectly illustrates the spirit of our house.
